If you're going to purchase an expensive hand made serial cable go ahead and get one that is fully shielded to make sure you don't run into any unexpected problems such as cross talk or other interference. We build our cable by hand and made to order, that said we may need a day or two to get started. As is the case with all custom cables we build there is sometimes a lead time  based on the current back log and availability of parts. We typically have all we'd need to build several cables for you but if you need them in a hurry it's best to call, reference the SKU above and ask for a more specific lead time as we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

We start with a fully SHIELDED 24 gauge 9 conductor wire then add the DB9 male and/or female connectors you select by hand soldering each wire to the corresponding pin. We then cover it in a shielded metallicized plastic head shell. We currently offer a standard straight head shell, a 45 degree and a 90 degree DB9 cable head shell. Each cable is hand built and thoroughly tested for continuity before shipping it to you. We've been building custom cables like these for over 25 years.

We can build a standard straight thru (serial cable), a standardized null modem cable or you can include a custom pin out (pin 1 to 3, pin 2 to 5, etc.) in the order notes and we will build it for your specific needs. Our custom cable calculators were designed to be a very simple way for you to order exactly what you need for a specific application. Most of the time, standard cables can fit the bill, but we understand that sometimes you need a 24 foot cable, instead of the industry-standard 25 foot cable, and so forth. Our goal is to make sure that you are completely satisfied, with not only the options we present, but also the quality of the product we sell.
